WEDNESDAY SPOTLIGHT
AI & TECHNOLOGY
I was reading Deloitte’s Global CPO Survey and one finding jumped out at me. Procurement leaders continue to invest in technology while reporting many of the same challenges they have talked about for years: fragmented processes, disconnected data and siloed ways of working.
That suggests the industry may not have a technology shortage. It may have a coordination shortage.
Most AI conversations start with intelligence. Most procurement problems start with decisions. Who owns them? Who influences them? What tradeoffs are visible? What happens after the decision is made?
Technology can improve a process. It cannot align an organization. Sometimes adding more capability to a fragmented process just helps the fragmentation move faster.
