WEDNESDAY SPOTLIGHT
DECISION ARCHITECTURE
David Rae’s CPO Crunch for Procurement Leaders caught my attention. One company changed how it monitored supplier financial risk. Instead of checking almost any supplier at almost any time, it focused on three situations: critical supply, onboarding and cash exposure.
The result was half as many financial risk evaluations, external data costs down 66%, and no unexpected supplier failures disrupting operations.
They did not solve the problem by adding more data. They got more specific about when the data mattered.
Procurement has spent years trying to improve visibility. Maybe the next step is being more selective about what deserves our attention.
